Exposed

First meet in over a year and first time only doing the triple jump. Ended the day with 13.95m There was some good, and not so good within each jump but exposure was key. Comfortable weather, low key surroundings really helped to get back into it. I know we have some work to do, but it was good to feel on the cusp of something good. My second round was better than the first which I was surprised at. All in all, I'm happy. It will fall into place.

Spike Lee said it best

Do the right thing. It's simple, easy, clean, and less of a headache in the long run. Assumptions and ignorance, although true, may not be enough to convince many. Simple truths are easy to maintain. Work, not hard, but simply work towards goals. Reduce the outside noise to a minimum. Learn and adapt your way of thinking to understand possibilities and not what is possible.

Put on a Show

Watch "NONSTOP @ CLAS/SICK HIP HOP| YAK FILMS x YBCA | PROMISES" on YouTube

Never forget to put on a show. People want to be involved in the experience. In this clip, dancer Nonstop(part of the hip hop dance group Remote Kontrol, and also known from his interpretation of a dubstep mix of Pumped up kicks by Foster the People) without a word is able to sit down has audience, explain each lyric, melody, sound, and put on a show.

As an athlete, we are expected to be at out best when all of the lights are on. So decide when they flip this switches, that your going to give the people their money's worth. But it doesn't start on game day or meet day or the morning of competition. It's started yesterday and the day before that and the day before that. Don't forget the psychological component of competition. It's not always the main focus of each rep or each drill. I try to focus on each push pass my threshold and what that's going to do for me when the lights are on. Even if its just a probing flashlight held by your coach, give everything yourself. You will achieve.

Long awaited

I'm feeling pretty good. Training is going well even though there are limitations. Time, sometimes taken for granted when in abundance, becomes a crucial component to achieving the right responses whether it be speed or power production to say the least.

Sprints and jumps are feeling just as good or better than ever. Considering I've adopted more of a four day weekly cycle, its truly gratifying to have my body responding the way it is. Some things are still raw, but the cleanup will come

I'm learning and appreciating the commitment factor a lot more than before. Doing enough of what is necessary is far greater than going the extra mile. So don't forget to allow time to run its course. There are no shortcuts that lead to greatness. Only time will tell, especially in track, time will always tell.

Re-dedication? But I thought I was already dedicated....Wrong!!!

Rededication-the moments of realization when you need to get the same feeling as being dedicated. This allows a new surge of inspiration and energy to effectively align oneself within his or her goals.

I ain't Webster, but that is my definition of it. Too often I've found myself feeling a certain way early on in the process. Feeling good, inspired, energized, and just in tune mind, body, and spirit. I'm not sure when it happens, but slowly that feeling drains day after day. To the naked eye it may not be much, but there's a difference between an A and an A+. Some good advice that I believe can apply to anything in everyday life," Hope is not a strategy". Heard this one in the classroom and it continues to resonant with me. "Hoping" that feeling comes back is as good as spitting into the wind. It takes a conscious effort to understand who you are and what you need to do to get where you want to go. Be mindful that the path for us all is a little different. We all have a different lenses that we view this world through. You know when you got that feeling and when you don't.

"It is not a right, but a privilege to operate a vehicle on the state of Massachusetts". This is what I heard the day I passed my driving test. Some may view receiving your license as a right of passage, but its actually one of the few privileges we gain and lose sight of. I guess never lose sight of what you are privileged to do. Privileges are earned, never given. Everyday celebrate the privileges; do not take what others can't do for granted.

This isn't confined to any one thing. Make the magic happen only how you know to. Allow others to believe in it and be inspired as well.

Overdue Updates

So I'm still going and still here (wherever here is) and am getting those old feelings back. I'm happy, enjoying the nights as they come. So many vivid sights help to connect the artistry of what's happening. Been to the same places before but the nostalgic feeling of what was combining with what will be is wonderful. Relying on the love and appreciating what I am able to do. For those that aren't, hop on. All of this has been much bigger than everything I've been. Today I realized I was born in the late (really late fall...technically) and its these types of moments that make it easier just to go. I believe in so much to do so little but it hasn't failed me yet.

I'm not sure when I want to start competing...either first week in December or when I squat 400. One means creating a benchmark the other means a better foundation. We shall see. I'll give the people what they want (acting like I got fans).

Updates

Getting faster, stronger, better, healthier lol. Time is being good to me. I approached these first few months like I did the summers, work and just be strong. Mind and body has to be strong to endure the UPS and downs. I'm growing a lot, thinking a lot, and understanding more. It's given me a better appreciation for what I do. I'm not chasing anything but further jumps, something that has been tainted through the years. It was easy to get caught up with all the shiny things, but everything is simple now. I'm happy and am enjoying myself. Given this is only the start, I think I'm in a good place for the future. I refuse to sabotage myself once more.
